Speaker 1:Welcome to the Hope Unlocked podcast. I'm Kristen Kurtz, your host. I pray this episode is like a holy IV of hope for your soul. Please help me. Welcome Casey Solak to the show. I am just very excited to have her back. This is her second time on. We had her on back in April of 2024 on episode 57, if you want to go back and take a peek. But, casey, would you be willing to just share a little bit about yourself for those who didn't get a chance to listen to you last year?
Speaker 2:Sure, Thanks for having me. I'm so happy to be here and to get to talk to everyone about the power of green smoothies. They are so powerful and simple and inspiring, and I am the founder of SheShinesWellness and you can find me at SheShinesWellnesscom, where I teach midlife women about the power of green smoothies to help them lose weight, boost mood, improve energy and support hormone health All of the all of the things that we women in midlife need a little bit of support around and um, and I just try to uncomplicate health and take away the frustration and the overwhelm that so many of us experience and just really get back to the basics from a faith-based perspective. Read it in Christ so good.
Speaker 1:I mean everything you just shared. I'm sure so many people are like, yes, give me some credit. So obviously you're a health coach and you know faith-based health coach. So how long have you been doing this?
Speaker 2:I have been health coaching since 2012. So it's been a. It's been a minute.
Speaker 1:So, beyond health coach, who are you? Who's Casey?
Speaker 2:Oh, I am a wife, married to my college sweetheart for almost 30 years, live in Texas with my youngest daughter, who just turned 17. My oldest daughter grew up and is adulting well. She got married a couple years ago and is up in the Dallas area living her best adult life. And otherwise I just I love the simple life and I love connecting with people, building relationships, spending time with my family, learning about God and growing closer in that connection, minute by minute, day by day. And that's who I am.
Speaker 1:So beautiful. Well, since you've been on, what's been happening, what's going on in your life?
Speaker 2:Well, let's see, I've kind of come full circle. I deviated a little bit from health coaching for a minute there, but realized that I was on the wrong path and came back to where I feel God really has me planted and decided to give up my own expectations of what health coaching and what this business should look like and give it all over to him and stop. I think releasing the expectations and surrendering it to him brings all of the fun back into the business and makes the connections that I make and the women that I coach and makes that an even more special time. And so I'm back to leaning into all that he has taught me about health and all the things that I keep learning about health in order to share that with my community, which is the she shines um sisterhood on Facebook and um and so yeah, so that's that's where I've been. I feel like I've come full circle back into health coaching, which is my first and true love. It's something that I enjoy immersing myself in, but I do it from a faith based perspective, which I think a lot of people in holistic health world aren't approaching health from that way especially. I'm very plant strong and teach about the power of plants for nutrition, nourishment and health and midlife, and there's a lot of people in this community who are not faith based and plant strong, and so I think you can't have health without having God in the middle of it and inviting your creator into your health. And he created your miracle machine and he wants to be part of your health. He's part of every other aspect of your life, hopefully, but so often we leave him out of our health, and so that's the perspective that I take with my health coaching and have since 2012 is that it's a faith-based perspective rooted in Christ, and that's how we approach health, and it always comes from a place of love.
Speaker 2:I think so many women get so frustrated with themselves, with their health. There's lots of negative self-talk going on, there's lots of berating and it creates stress in the body, and that is not how God wants us to approach our health. He wants us to approach it from a place of love, respect and peace, and he loves you. He loves your miracle machine. He created it and he wants you to love it too and honor it and revere it and approach health from that place rather than from a place of frustration and stress, rather than from a place of frustration and stress. So this is what I love teaching about. This is why I've come full circle back into teaching and coaching holistic health and green smoothies, because I think this is a message that God wants to get out into the world, to Christian women and anyone else who will listen.
Speaker 2:And keeping things in perspective where food is not the end, all be all, god is and our relationship with Christ is first and foremost. And once we start getting these things in order, everything else begins to fall into place. It's kind of like most women come to me because they want to lose weight. Well, weight is a symptom of an underlying issue, an underlying challenge, and you can focus on weight all you want, but if you're not getting to the root cause of what's going on there, then it's going to be an uphill battle and it's going to be a losing battle and a frustrating one. So getting to the root cause of what's going on there is really, really important and I think again, approaching that from a faith-based christian perspective, where god is in the middle of it is the only way to do it yes, I, I absolutely agree, I'm.
Speaker 1:I'm guessing you know we can kind of share a little bit of your journey too in that, because, um, a lot of times when we are I would call pit pullers, I call myself a pit puller sometimes, right. Some of the times we, some of the things we've walked through, we often aren't going to go back and help others out with right. So what does your journey look like in this realm?
Speaker 2:Yeah. So in 2012, I was the furthest thing from a health coach. I was building a business, a different business. Back then, I had two young children. I was burning the candle on both ends and I didn't think about the power of food or what food meant or what it could do for my health.
Speaker 2:What happened is I ended up with what I thought was a spider bite above my eyebrow and it was three little dots and I watched it, over the course of a few days, grow and it looked like I'd been hit by a baseball bat. I figured well, it's a spider bite, it's just working itself out I know sometimes they swell and all this. So I was waiting for it to calm down and move along, but it didn't calm down. I eventually could feel it in the lymph nodes on the side of my neck and it scared me, and so I went to the doctor and I said I think I have a spider bite that's gotten out of control. And he looked at my forehead and he said that's not a spider bite, that shingles. What are you stressed out about? That was his very next question to me was what are you stressed out about? And he didn't have time to listen to everything I was stressed out about. But the point was made that the stress that I was under, which was building a business, raising a young family, burning the candle on both ends, never taking time for myself, stressing my body out with the food that I was putting in it, which was typically low fat, no fat bagels, sonic, dr Pepper, chick-fil-a, those types of things, an occasional salad if I was trying to be good and I realized that I was stressed out on all levels and that was manifesting itself physically through shingles, and I wasn't yet 40 at the time. The only people that I knew that had shingles were my grandparents, and that was the wake up call that I needed to focus on my health.
Speaker 2:And so my mom sent me to a class. It was a three day class on kidney health and I thought that is going to be the most boring class on the planet. And she said I will babysit the kids and you go to this class. And I said, okay, if you'll babysit the kids, I'll take the time off. So I went to the class. It changed my life.
Speaker 2:I realized that this body that God gave us, ever since then I have I've mentioned it here already I've called it a miracle machine, because that's what it is. When you look at the human body and you see how it functions without us even having to think about it, and how all the parts play together and work so seamlessly as long as we're not messing things up, it truly is amazing, and all I wanted to do at that point was support my body. I wanted to help it do what it could do, and and mainly because I needed to live my purpose, which at that time was growing this other business and raising my family without being I didn't want to be sick all the time, with no energy, stressed out, and so I knew that I needed to shift the nutrition I was putting in my body and the way I was addressing stress, which I wasn't back then, addressing stress which I wasn't back then. And so I really dug in. I went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a health coach and and then also furthered my education with the psychology of eating and specialize in psychology and behavior change, new mindset, new behaviors, teaching women how to, how to create that in their life. And so, yes, it was my own, my own adventure with health that sent me down this path, and I was learning all of these things.
Speaker 2:And, um, my brother came down from Colorado and he said that I needed to have a green smoothie. And I didn't want to. I thought it sounded disgusting and he said you have to have a green smoothie, you are not well. He said put the kids in the minivan. We're going to the grocery store, we're going to go pick up the produce and all the things we need and we're going to have a smoothie bar at mom's house. And so we did, got all the things, brought the kids back, set them there on the counter. We started throwing things in the blender and he was showing me how to make smoothies. Counter he. We started throwing things in the blender and he was showing me how to make smoothies. And then he said okay, it's now time for a green smoothie. And my kids were watching me.
Speaker 2:So I had to be very brave and sip my first green smoothie and act like I liked it. But the funny thing is I didn't have to act. I actually did like it. It was delicious and my whole life changed with the sip of that green smoothie. It was a hallelujah moment. Is is what I call it, because I it was so easy to create, so easy to clean up, so easy to to drink. I it was delicious. I could not believe that I had lived my entire life and no one had shared green smoothies with me, and it became my mission at that time to take my Vitamix blender around town to make green smoothies for people and share them so they could see how simple, how delicious, how inspired health can be. Just by adding in one green smoothie a day, you're getting the fiber you need, the hydration, the vitamins, minerals, the living enzymes. So good, and it's health insurance in a glass is what I call it.
Speaker 1:I love it. Oh my gosh. So are you still using the same recipe that your brother?
Speaker 2:brought. You know, I think it's probably basics. Yeah, it's probably changed a little bit. We did a lot of experimenting that day with various fruits and veggies and things like that.
Speaker 2:What I like to start people off with is a very mild and delicious green smoothie, which is typically with spinach, and then fruit like banana and some pineapple, and then I have a secret ingredient too, but I like to keep it super simple so that people will do it and love it, and then from there you can experiment and have fun and just add different things into your smoothie, like things like maybe cinnamon or ginger or lemon. The combinations are endless and I always say you're going to make a green smoothie at some point that you hate we all have, and that's okay, because you're going to make many green smoothies that you will love and will nourish your body. You'll get all of that good fiber in there and you're off to the races and you can start doing that one green smoothie every day. You're just gonna add in that green smoothie and just watch how your health begins to change. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I have to know. Like what was the worst recipe that you ever?
Speaker 2:Oh, you know, um, I would say the worst would be. So I love broccoli. I'll just say that I love to eat broccoli. I don't personally recommend it in a smoothie.
Speaker 1:I can't imagine. It would be good.
Speaker 2:Some people really like it and they put it in there and I just, I just don't. I will eat raw broccoli every day, all day, but I will not put it in a smoothie.
Speaker 1:So stay away from broccoli, at least on your, on your recipe Exactly.
Speaker 2:So here is the thing, though. Here's how. So one of the one of the ways to up-level your smoothie is to use cruciferous veggies, like broccoli, but not broccoli. So kale, for instance, would be a great thing to put in your smoothie. Cruciferous veggies contain sulforaphane, which is an anti-cancer ingredient and so good for us. So the more cruciferous you can get, whether it's in your smoothie or outside of your smoothie on a daily basis, the healthier and happier you're going to be.
Speaker 2:And the reason green smoothies are so powerful is because not only are they loaded with fiber, which nobody ever talks about our need for fiber, which we do need fiber, and I can tell you why here in just a minute. But um, but the this, I don't even remember where I was going. Let me just get onto the fiber fiber, fiber, fiber. We, we as a, as a human race, don't get enough fiber in our diet. Everyone is so focused on protein that they're missing out on the fiber. I, we, do need protein.
Speaker 2:I will not deny that we don't need to overdose on protein. I will say that. And we need to be focused very highly on fiber because we have to get our gut health in order. We have to move our, our gut health, so that we're regular every day, so that we're moving toxins and things out of the body on a daily basis and so that hormones aren't getting recirculated into the body. Fiber is really important and I say 35 to 45 grams of fiber a day is a really good point to a really good target to aim for.
Speaker 1:So in your smoothie, how many um grams of, or how many grams of fiber, would you say, are in the smoothie?
Speaker 2:Oh, good question. Um, I would say there's depends on what I add into it. Sometimes I'll put I'll, I'll. I'll just share with you, kristen, okay. Um, the secret ingredient. Do you want to hear it? Well, do you want to share it?
Speaker 1:I'll share it.
Speaker 2:I'll share it. It's a secret to be shared. It is flax seeds or chia seeds and this is what I was going to say a minute ago before I got sidetracked by fiber and flax seeds and chia seeds are high in fiber, so if you add those to your smoothie, you're getting some great fiber in there, In addition to the greens that are giving you all the fiber. And I would say my green smoothies probably have about 10 grams of fiber in them, depending on how much green I put in and how much flaxseed and such um. Maybe even more than that, but but the reason smoothies are so powerful for us is because they're anti-inflammatory. When you add in the flax seed and a chia seed, you are, you are up leveling the the anti-inflammatory benefits.
Speaker 2:Inflammation in the body is the root of dis-ease in the body and we all walk around here eating highly inflammatory food Most of the time time, almost every day. The food we eat and the things that we drink are typically highly inflammatory. It is our job, our privilege, to load our body up with the anti-inflammatory nutrition as much of that as we can get, and that's why green smoothies I call them health insurance in a glass, because they are so anti-inflammatory and full of fiber and full of hydration. That is another thing that so many of us lack is hydration. We need to be getting at least half our body weight and ounces of water per day. Water should be your drink of choice throughout the day, and it's typically for my green smoothies. It's the base of my green smoothie, so that I'm getting that extra hydration in my smoothies.
Speaker 1:Okay, I I've made smoothies before with um like coconut water. Do you ever get?
Speaker 2:coconut water. That's good too. We've got some electrolytes in there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I found that a lot of people don't drink enough water and I'm like this is probably one of the main keys to help you be well.
Speaker 2:It is, and I know, as I'm talking to you, I am preaching to the choir. This is something that you share with your clients and everyone all the time as well. And you're right water dehydration it so many people think they have chronic illness, but they are actually chronically dehydrated. There's a book out by um. It's called your body's many cries for water and it's by dr batman gellage. I'm not gonna even try to spell that, but you can start typing dr batman and it'll come up. But it's your body's mini cries for water and it just it's story after story of how he, he healed people by giving them water.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean really right. Yeah, I'm sure you've seen that too. I remember, um, even with somebody in my family, which I won't say who they are in case they listen, but but this person was having headaches all the time and I thought how much water? That was my first question. It's usually my first question how much water are you drinking Exactly? Let's just say it was like 20 ounces a day. I'm like, uh, let's start you on some water.
Speaker 2:Yes, it's free, very smart free and so powerful.
Speaker 1:So I love that. Um, so I will. I'm actually going to put that book in the show notes in case somebody wants to. Yeah, um, and I know you actually have a resource you wanted to share with um hope unlocked audience as well.
Speaker 2:Can you?
Speaker 1:tell us a little bit more about that.
Speaker 2:Yes, it is your green smoothie quick start guide to lose weight, improve mood, boost energy and support hormone health, and it's all about how to begin to incorporate green smoothies into your daily nutrition. There are some recipes in there. There's explanation of why they're so powerful, um, and all that good stuff. So, yeah, I'd love to share that?
Speaker 1:Um, I would love to hear just do you have some testimonials of um people you've worked with who have integrated the green smoothies into their um repertoire? That's how you say it. Yeah, so sure, like you know the the testimonial of the benefits and what they've experienced on the other side of stepping into something that they absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 2:So. What's fun is I get a lot of people who come into my group and into my various challenges. I have a green smoothie and great scripture refresh that I run several times during the year and it's five days where we focus on sipping green smoothies and getting into great scripture together as a group. It's really fun. But I have a lot of people that come into my groups basically coming from the standard American diet and they know things feel off with their health. These are typically midlife women, um, ages around 40 to 55 ish. Um, they're feeling lethargic. They're feeling, um, various aches and pains are happening. They're not feeling quite as comfortable in their body anymore. It's not moving the way they want to move. They've. They're facing weight loss resistance, things like that, and so they're. They're knowing things are. They know things are off and they're trying to figure out what's going on. But they're, they're stuck in the standard American diet and they're not getting enough fiber, they're not getting enough greens in their in their daily nutrition or enough water or all the things we've been talking about, and so they they dip a toe into my green smoothie world to see what it's like to make these green smoothies. They're not sure if they're going to like them, kind of like I was back in 2012. And they're putting on a brave face to see if maybe this is something they can start incorporating.
Speaker 2:And the cool thing about this is there are so many aha moments as we go through this, the challenge and the refresher, as these participants start incorporating these green smoothies into their life. They're like, oh my gosh, they're like I was when I thought why hasn't anyone shown me how to make a green smoothie before? Why didn't I know this? And so, all of a sudden it's. It's kind of like, wow, they think I, they're thinking that they can do this too and that even just within a five day green smoothie great scripture refresh.
Speaker 2:They're already feeling better in their body. They're already feeling more energetic because you have to, based on what is in that green smoothie, um, and they realize that this could be the turning point for their health, because if they continue to add in this green smoothie, um, it just starts. It's kind of a domino effect. They start looking at the next thing they could maybe add in maybe a giant salad at dinner or maybe a little bit more water throughout the day.
Speaker 2:Health becomes fun and inspired the moment you start adding in green smoothies, and so I would say the biggest, the biggest results and testimonials from people in it there is weight loss. Weight loss happens not because they're focusing on losing weight, but because they are focusing on loading the body up with whole food, plant, strong nourishment, and it's what the body needs to thrive and survive. Not survive thrive and live fully and energetically. And when they, when they realize that it just takes this little bit to start feeling so much better, it becomes almost this game of oh, what else can I add in? And I can feel even better.
Speaker 2:And it becomes such an adventure with God is what I like to call it, because it is fun and inspired, and that's the other thing, that's the intangible that they receive, other than beginning to lose weight, because they're focusing on putting whole food, plant strong nourishment in their body and so they're releasing inflammation in the body, so they're losing weight. They're improving their energy because they're getting all of those living enzymes from that green smoothie, the refresh. There's just this recent one that I did and she said she she couldn't believe how much better she felt and she was excited to keep moving and keep going forward with green smoothies and some other things that she and I talked about during a session that we had together. But I think the intangible is that they no longer feel so frustrated and overwhelmed with health.
Speaker 2:This adding in that green smoothie is a very easy, simple, yet powerful thing that we can all do and it's fast, it can be made and taken on the road when you're busy in the morning and you don't have time for breakfast, and so they realize that this is doable and it's finally something that is is not stressful, it's not overwhelming, it's it's fun and functional and as you start sipping these green smoothies. You start lift, the brain fog starts lifting as well, and when the brain fog starts lifting, I just feel like the connection to God is even closer and, um, so, yeah, so these are some some of the things that people are experiencing.
Speaker 1:So incredible. So if somebody is going, yeah well, how long would that actually take me to make Like? How long would it take you to make?
Speaker 2:Oh, like two minutes or less.
Speaker 1:Do you do any like you know, prepping ahead of time, like?
Speaker 2:yeah, you can. Um, I typically don't. I I usually have frozen fruit, um, and I've got greens from the store that are ready to go, so I just dump my handfuls of greens into the blender and add some fruit on top, add my flaxseed on top of that um water and blend it up, and I mean it literally takes two minutes from start to finish, and that's from starting the blender to cleaning it out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, would you think that most people like I mean here's, here's some things that I hear along the way, I don't have time, I don't have money. Yeah, have you heard those things along the way? Definitely, and I say yeah.
Speaker 2:So I say we have time and we have money for the things that we make priority.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and how much would a smoothie cost you?
Speaker 2:Oh, I don't, I don't even. I haven't even put pen to paper on that one, but not very much. Starbucks probably, right, definitely. And the thing is, when you start focusing on whole food, plant strong nourishment and you're eating at home and making your own things at home, you're not spending that money eating out as much. Could it be a little more expensive to get the produce and things like that? Maybe a little bit, but you're either going to pay the farmer now or pay the doctor later.
Speaker 2:This is an investment in your health and it's really, really important because God needs you healthy and happy so you can live his purpose for your life in this season of your life, and you cannot do that if your health is holding you back. So this is my focus has always been health for life purpose. It's never just health for health sake or to fit into that pink polka dot bikini at the beach. This is because God had you here for a mission and you've got to be energetic and and feeling comfortable in your body to go do that mission. So when you make your health and your self-care a priority which it should it needs to be a priority because you cannot pour into your community, into your church, into your family. If you haven't filled your own cup up first, you know you can't pour from an empty cup and um.
Speaker 2:And so when you make your health a priority and you focus on the whole food, strong nourishment and you're, you're not, you're not spending your money on processed, packaged, fake foods. Instead, you're investing that money into your own, into your nourishment, into your health. Um, that's, you know, that's a choice you get to make and it's a conscious choice we all have to make on a day to day basis and as far as time this can be. So this takes up no time. I do not like spending time in the kitchen, I just don't, and that's why I love smoothies so much, because they are so fast to make, quick to clean up, easy to take with you. There's really no excuse for this. Health insurance in a glass.
Speaker 1:Just got to do it Health insurance in a glass. I love that. It's something easy to remember, you know. So can you say um, you recommend people drinking in the morning for breakfast as kind of like a kickstart to the day?
Speaker 2:That's a great thing, um, it's a lot of people like to do that because it's so quick and they can make it and then take it on the road on their way to work or school or whatever, um, and that way you're for sure getting it in, because sometimes, as the day goes on, you get to, you know, to the nighttime and you're like, oh, I haven't had my smoothie today, um, cause things get in the way. And, uh, so it's, it's a, it's an easy thing to do first thing in the morning. It can be a meal, it can be a meal replacement, and it can be a meal replacement at any time during the day. I've had smoothies for dinner, um, but so it really doesn't matter when you have it, just that you do have it, okay.
Speaker 1:That's so neat. It's like it's your gateway into the garden right.
Speaker 2:Totally and I want I want people to understand it's so simple but it's so powerful. There's a, a doctor that I follow and she actually she does hyper nourishing green smoothies. So she's putting a lot, a lot of greens in her, in her blender, um and um. But she since, for about a decade she's been reversing things like lupus and uh, Sjogren's and auto, many, many kinds of autoimmune diseases and kidney disease. She's even pulled people off dialysis. She's had somebody come off the lung transplant list. It's amazing what she has accomplished through the power of hyper nourishing green smoothies. So, even though I'm saying how fun they are and how simple they are and you know all these, you know fun, you know fun light, easy things about green smoothies, don't ever underestimate the power of the green in your glass.
Speaker 1:it can really turn things around and it can turn things around fast yeah, well, casey, I'm so glad that you had this full circle moment because I mean my, my, my thought, just in general, because you know, as as a life coach and doing, you know, you know, helping people moving forward in purpose if we're not well, like you said, um, you can't fully walk it out literally. And how much more would the enemy love to take people out health-wise.
Speaker 2:Exactly.
Speaker 1:They're sick in bed. I mean, I don't know about you, but I'm hearing so many people are sick lately. I mean, just the rate of sickness that I'm seeing around me is unbelievable, and that's a whole other subject. With lots of forks in the road of short, I can imagine this, you know would be very helpful.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I totally agree with you about all of that.
Speaker 2:There is a lot of sickness around and the thing about it is is that the body can the miracle machine, your miracle machine, can change, just like I said a second ago, so quickly when we get out of the way and stop bombarding it with the things that are foreign to it and start putting the things in it that, um, that it knows and that it needs, and those are the things that God put on this planet and their most whole natural form.
Speaker 2:When you start putting those things into your body and getting out of, out of your body's way, it can. It can heal and repair itself very quickly. Nobody is too far gone and there there's hope, for no matter where you are in your health, there is absolutely hope that it can turn around, and it can turn around quickly and just like you just said, uh, satan would like nothing more than to get a foothold in your health and and also in your mindset, telling you there's nothing you can do, you're too far, it's too far, it's over. That is the furthest thing from the truth. Your body can turn around and God needs you to practice extreme self-care so that you can honor the miracle machine he's given you so that you can go live that purpose.
Speaker 1:I love the miracle machine. Yeah, I think of that often. I'm like you know I'll be in a workout and I'm like, wow, my, you know, for example, in a step class, I'm like, wow, I'm moving my arms and my feet really quickly and my brain's keeping up. Yes, it's just amazing. You know, the autonomic, you know systems that you know, except the the. Do you want to talk about lymph at all? Since you talked about the lymph system, I feel like we're to like kind of go there for a moment.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh, my goodness. So the lymphatic system is um really important to your overall health and wellbeing and it's important to move your lymph system, your the lymph fluid in your body, so that you can move toxins through and out of the body. And you can do this in in several different ways. Uh, rebounding is one really powerful way to move the lymphatic system. Do you rebound, kristen? I do, and I love it. Me too, it's so fun, boundless joy.
Speaker 1:I actually was going to do some classes at one point.
Speaker 2:Oh, wow, yeah, I love that, um, I I think rebounding is. It is so fun and I just I have my rebounder and I'll just hop on it, you know, throughout the day and then I'll do a focus session, usually in the evening when things are winding down over here. But, um, it's, even if you just get on it for a couple minutes and move the lymph, it's really powerful thing to do. Um, you can also do things like dry brushing using lymphatic cream, uh, things like that. Also, here's a resource. It's called the big six and these are the six places on the body that um are your lymphatic grains. And if you can focus on the big six, like massaging those areas every day, just once a day, um, it helps to open up the lymphatic grains and and get the lymph system moving. You can you can YouTube the big six and it's with uh, stop chasing pain. It's Dr Perry, I think his last name is Nicholson Um and it'll. He'll show you exactly where those points are and how to um, how to open up those drains.
Speaker 1:That's awesome. Yeah, and it's the system of our body that doesn't automatically move Exactly. The heart beats on its own.
Speaker 2:Exactly and moves the blood, but the lymph doesn't have anything to pump it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we need to like upgrade, that you know, yep, for sure.
Speaker 2:Get an upgrade please. Yeah, it's, it is. It's really important for overall health and wellbeing and, and especially if you're noticing any swelling anywhere or things like that edema it's, it could be lymph, lymph, lymph fluid that's just kind of getting backed up and just needs to be to be moved, circulated yes, well, thank you for going there.
Speaker 1:For a moment, I just felt like we were to go there I, I love it.
Speaker 2:That's, that's awesome, and I I would love people to just take a moment every single day and thank god for their body, because when we don't, we're just taking it for granted, and then it's a lot easier for us to bombard it with things like Oreos and Doritos when we're not honoring and revering the body. So, just taking a moment every day and thanking God for the miracle machine that he gave you, and even pausing and you know, putting your your fists on your kidneys and just saying, wow, kidneys, thanks so much for what you're doing for me today. And putting your hand over your heart and practicing gratitude for all the beating that it does for you today without you having to even think about it your ears, your eyes, your nose, all of the things that we just take for granted. The more we can honor and revere every part of the body and understand what it's doing and how it's working, then it's so much easier to want to drink that green smoothie and to work with our body to help it function most optimally, right.
Speaker 1:So good. Yeah, I think we, you know, I think a lot of times, you know, just even looking back when I was growing up, I had a distaste for my body. I was every little piece and part going no, you're not good enough, you need, you need to look better. You're not looking good.
Speaker 2:Exactly it is it's really important, it really is, and that follows us into adulthood. You know, and we do have to capture every thought and turn it to christ and thoughts of things like you know, why are my thighs so big or why is my stomach so big? Or you know things like that, why, why is this so frustrating? Why can't I lose this weight? Why am, why do I feel like this in my body all the time? It's super negative. It creates stress in the body. It's not honoring and revering the miracle machine that he gave you and practicing gratitude for it.
Speaker 2:The things that we focus on grow, so those thoughts will continue to grow if we're not capturing them and turning them to Christ. And, as I said, those, those thoughts are creating stress in the body and, as I said at the beginning of our little chat here, stress will manifest itself physically. Stress could be the root of almost all disease, just like inflammation, because stress is inflammatory in the body. And God doesn't also does not want us talking to ourselves that way. He would never say things like that to us and he gave you a gift, a gift, that your body is a gift from him, and everyone was created in his image unique, but in his image and so approaching our body and our health from that perspective will change everything.
Speaker 1:Yes, amen. Well, now that you're you've, you've transitioned your back full circle. How? How does it look like in business? You know different back when you were, you know, first getting started in business, where it was more of a stress induced. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, I've made the conscious choice to not stress about it and to surrender it and let God take it wherever he wants to take it. This is an extension of who I am. It's as I was saying earlier. It's what I love to learn about, talk about, teach about, coach about. It's what I would do anyway.
Speaker 2:So I'm kind of approaching it from that perspective and not one of, oh my gosh, I have to do this in order to make this happen and I have to meet with five people next week, or otherwise my business is a failure or things like that. I'm just taking that aspect of it out and letting God shape and mold this the way he wants to do it. I know that he'll bring the people into my space that need what I do, and if that's a coaching relationship, great. If that's a quick phone call so I can help them overcome some kind of health challenge that's really been causing problems. You know I'm so happy to do that and I. This is information that God wants people to have and I'm a conduit for that information and where it lands and how it lands is totally up to him.
Speaker 1:Yes, I love that. That's so good, I'm, I'm with you on that. Like, I just have this. I guess you could call it like a motto. It's like release the income, release the outcome. It's like, oh, I love that, you know, it's um, I'm expectant. I'm really expectant because he's he's got, he's got the plan in his hands and we just continue to follow where he leads and it's going to work out well. Um, and there's, you know, in this world there's so many different, you know, quote unquote gurus and quote unquote experts that would tell you you need to be doing things like a certain way, but oftentimes that's not the way that the Lord calls us to operate right, exactly, exactly.
Speaker 2:That's 100% true, and I think that also goes into health as well, and this is where so much overwhelm and frustration comes from with with health, for, for women, is that there is, there's endless information out there about health and about how we should do it, and what we should do next and what we're doing wrong, um, and it is so overwhelming and it can be so frustrating if we let it be.
Speaker 2:And this is why inviting your creator into your health will be the thing that changes all of it for you, um, because you have to you get with your creator and ask him what you need to do for your health and then do what he's telling you to do. He's going to tell you, step-by-step what needs to happen and, um, when you are in relationship with him and consulting him on your health, that's going to help all the noise go away. This is, this is a an adventure with him, your creator, and you and um, and that helps, um. That helps just release all of that ickiness that often comes along with health. It makes it more of an inspired, an inspired thing. It's not, we're not trying to get to a destination. This is, this is a process of becoming and growing closer to your creator and becoming more of who he created you to be.
Speaker 1:Yes, oh, so good. Oh my gosh, I, you know, I. I would say I so agree with that and the more that we lean into him like for everything, obviously, but in that you know health related realm, like, I've had so many like downloads that he's given me to go try this or go do this modality or try adding this in.
Speaker 1:And it's like I think it was my chiropractor. That was like, wow, you're really intuitive. And I'm like, no, it's, it's just. You know, holy spirit, in me, there is intuition, right. It's not like, yeah, you know, it's, it's, it's just been beautiful. It's a journey that, um, we get to lean into and we have one body, really, you know, so why not take care of it? You got that right, right, um. So what would it look like for somebody to work with you, like in a coaching relationship?
Speaker 2:Well, most people start off in one of my refreshes or one of my challenges, and so first I would just love to invite people into our Facebook group. That's where I share a lot of just information and things that I think are important. Um, and I will make sure you have that link. Yeah, it's uh, just, it's a just a fun, you know fun Facebook group. So that's where everything starts. But then we move into a five day green smoothie and great scripture refresh, which is a great way to start incorporating green smoothies into some, into someone's life, into their health, just so they can see the power of green. And then from there, often we can move into a coaching relationship, and there I have a six week green smoothie solution where it's a focused one on one coaching relationship where we are continuing to incorporate green smoothies but then also focusing on the psychology of eating, any emotional eating, mindset shifts that need to happen, things like that, through loving accountability and weekly coaching calls.
Speaker 1:Okay, oh, my gosh, casey, can you just um, what is the name of your Facebook group? And in case somebody just she signs wellness shines wellness, okay, awesome. Well, this has been so good. I appreciate what you've shared today. I'm sure you might have some people who want to reach out. What's the best way for them to get in contact with you?
Speaker 2:Yes, they can email me at Casey and that's C-A-S-E-Y at she shines wellnesscom.
Speaker 1:Okay, so at the end of every podcast, I, you know, have our guests. Uh, just think of a woman who is listening in and is there anything that you would like to um share with her? Um, speak over her, and then would you pray us out.
Speaker 2:I would love to.
Speaker 2:What I would share is that, no matter where you are in your health, there is always hope.
Speaker 2:Just starts with adding in the good stuff, and I would suggest that the first good thing that you can add in is that green smoothie and just watch things change from there. Can add in is that green smoothie and just watch things change from there. Lord, thank you so much for this time together. Thank you for Kristen and all the work she does and bringing people onto her podcast and just letting them share and open up doors, and for all of her listeners who are walking in your light and living out their purpose, and I just am so appreciative that we get to have this time and that um, that you are in the midst of all of everything that we do, including our health, and I just pray for any person who is listening to this, if they are struggling in their health, that they will just lean into you, invite you in and consult with you and then do whatever it is you're laying on their heart to do as their very next step. Thank you for Jesus. It's in his name that we do all, amen.
Speaker 1:Thank you, casey, thanks for coming back again. We'll have to have you back again for maybe another topic on health, I think you-.
Speaker 2:Thanks, kristen, I would love to. I got a lot to say.
Speaker 1:You can just tell. You guys can probably tell the passion's just seeping out, which is amazing. So well, thank you for being a brave voice who's setting others free. I'm going to close with the anchoring verse, which is may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace and believing, so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope, and that's Romans 15, 13. So thank you again, Casey. I will be back with another episode next week. Bye everybody, thanks, friend, see ya. Thank you.
