Speaker 2:Welcome to the Hope Unlocked podcast. I'm Kristen Kurtz, your host. I pray this episode is like a holy ivy of hope for your soul. Please help me. Welcome Angela Adkins to the show. I am excited to have her here today. We actually got connected through our mutual friend, cindy Nicholson, and when we chatted for the first time I knew I wanted to have her on here to share more about what she does. As you guys know, this is the second season of Launching Pioneers and I definitely see her as a pioneer in the work that she's doing to help set the captives free. So, angela, would you be open to telling us a little bit more about yourself before we get started?
Speaker 3:Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me, kristen, and I feel the same way about you. The minute I met you, I just loved the way that you flowed with this Holy Spirit and made everyone feel welcome and I just, I really enjoy who you are.
Speaker 3:Yes, you too. So a little about me. I am married. I've been married for 22 years. I have six wonderful from the ages of 8 to 21. And so that keeps me busy. I'm also I've been in ministry for over 20 years as well. All kinds of ministry church planting, youth ministry.
Speaker 3:The thing that really caught me, though, and just caught my passion and, I guess, really transformed my personal life as well, was when I got into healing the heart, and so right now what I do is heart healing, coaching, and it's a little hard sometimes to define everything that I do. I'm an equipper. I love to train people, and sometimes that can be a good thing or a bad thing. My family can get a little tired of the training side of my personality, but the Lord has done a work in me, in embracing that. He has made me a teacher.
Speaker 3:I actually really resisted the training side of things for a long time, mainly because I've seen sometimes where teachers just kind of take the life out of a room, if that makes sense, and I didn't want to be that person. And finally the Lord just spoke to me and said you know, you are you, you have a gift of teaching and you're despising the gift I've given you. And, um, I just I repented and I just remember being in tears because my husband kept telling me, like you, you are a good teacher. And when I tell you that, like you look at it as a negative, but I'm not speaking it as a negative and it made me realize I needed to ask God what was up with that. So, anyway, what was up with that? Well, so what was up with it was I just had some poor experiences as a, I guess as a child, as a teenager, where I saw a lot of people who would consider themselves to be good teachers and we're talking mostly in the church here like good teachers of the word, but I wouldn't see any movement of the Holy Spirit and in fact, I would see a quenching of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 3:And when I was about 15, I guess this is do you want me to jump into my testimony a little? I can share a little, yeah, would you? Yeah, so when I I had a pretty pivotal moment in my life when I was around 14, I had I have a sister, 14. I have a sister, but she is now with the Lord, and she was 11 years old when I believe I was 15 when she passed away and she had bone cancer and we really prayed for her healing. Even back then I was a believer, we were a believing family. Even back then I was a believer, we were a believing family.
Speaker 3:So I had an interesting experience with the Lord right before we found out that she was sick. The summer before we found out that she was sick, and I really had not given my life to the Lord. I was resisting the idea of Him being in control of my life. I believed in God, I believed in Jesus, but I really did not want to surrender and so I went away to a youth camp and they had us, of all things, go spend time with the. I still remember it to this day and I just was like Lord, you know, this is pretty stupid, because I don't have a relationship with you and I don't really want to waste your time and I'm not sure you want to waste mine. So like do you?
Speaker 3:want anything from me.
Speaker 3:I'm 14, you know, and I'm just kind of like I know I'm not surrendered, I know I don't really have like. This is kind of a dumb activity. You know why am I sitting here pretending to talk to God, right, and then all of a sudden? I guess because I gave this window of opportunity to the Lord, and also sometimes we just don't understand the timing of the word. But he understands it Right. So he had me, I believe he set me up for such a time as that, right On that moment, on that Hill, and he spoke to my heart and it was, I think, the second time in my life that I had heard. It was a whisper in my heart, it wasn't audible, but it was very, very clear that it was the Lord speaking to me. He said to me if you turn away from me today, you will turn away from me the rest of your life.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that sobered me like big time because I knew that I was, I was being resistant to the Lord, but it wasn't that I didn't believe in him. You know what I mean. And so that day, when I heard that, it was like the fear of the Lord came over my life and I just I said, lord, I surrender, I surrender, I surrender to you, I don't want to walk away from you the rest of my life. And you know he knows our heart right and he knew that my heart didn't want to walk away from him. And looking back, like the moment I have to say this the moment I accepted Christ like that and I surrendered to his Lordship, I was filled with joy. I was filled with joy.
Speaker 3:It was nothing like the religion that I had grown up in. It was nothing like just because I had spent my whole life doing the right things. In fact, when I went back to my youth group and said I gave my life to Christ and I want to get baptized, they all looked at me and said you're the best Christian out of all of us. Like why would you want to? Like haven't you baptized already? And I'm like no, you don't understand. Like I met God for real.
Speaker 2:Like this my life changed.
Speaker 3:And I never wanted to be baptized before then and I immediately wanted to be baptized afterwards. And so there was just a huge shift in my life, in receiving Christ and making him Lord. And I think sometimes we miss that aspect where it says confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe, you know, believe with your heart that he was raised from the dead. And it's like we're, we're like well, just pray the prayer, and really it's. It's more than a prayer, it's a you're the, I want you to be the Lord of my life. You came, you rescued me, you saved me, you delivered me. The word salvation is actually sozo and it means saved, healed and delivered, and that's, that's everything he did for us. But there is this element of us making him Lord, and so I've had a huge shift at that moment element of us making him Lord, and so I've had a huge shift at that moment.
Speaker 2:Well, and that's incredible to be 14. I mean, I have a completely different story of being, you know, saved from addiction at 25, not growing up in the church. So I can imagine being 14, like. What did it look like in? Like at school? Were you going to school? Were you homeschooled? What did that look like to be a teenager who was like I am following the Lord, like let's go.
Speaker 3:So I was homeschooled actually at that point, and fairly protected in a lot of ways. A lot of ways, I think. For me it became a joy in my life. And then back to back, to like what I was saying about my sister.
Speaker 3:And what happened? That happened, you know, the next year, and I looked back and realized like the Lord wasn't joking. If I did not have that personal relationship with Jesus and all I had was religion, I would have walked away from God for the rest of my life after the pain I went through of losing my sister. But because I knew Christ, I was able to experience joy. Through the whole process, I was able to see that she had a personal relationship with the Lord and the Lord prepared her heart for everything that was happening. And here we prayed for her healing. And I work now in healing ministry. I work in freedom and deliverance, I work in helping people to experience all there is with God, and I expect miracles all the time. But we did not see a miracle and so I had to, you know, walk through that experience of loss.
Speaker 3:And in that I just know that God's timing is perfect, because I had the Lord with me and I wasn't alone you know, walking through that pain and that loss.
Speaker 2:I can't even imagine. I mean, I haven't walked through that with a sibling. I've walked through with you know my father passed away about eight years ago and to be young, like a teenager, I can't imagine not having you know Christ in my life at that time. You know I was, I walked through it being a believer when my dad passed away but I can't imagine not having the Lord with you through that pain, right For sure. And you know, just in our world in general, like I can't imagine walking through this life, like how I used to live, right To not have to.
Speaker 2:Just, you know, there's just so many things that we can encounter in this life that can have you to question, and even as believers too. One of the things I wanted to kind of dig into, if you're able to do this with me and go here, I think for some people and I've even experienced this at times too is just kind of questioning like, okay, you say we can be healed and you know, like with your sister, that really challenging walking through seeing somebody not healed. And I'm thinking of somebody maybe listening today that you know they were really believing for somebody to be healed and they were like, well, why didn't God save my family member? Why didn't he heal this person? Is that something that you'd be open to kind of going deeper on?
Speaker 3:I mean, it's a big topic and definitely something that I've had to come to like a connecting point in where my experience doesn't necessarily the Bible isn't defined by my experience, and so I have learned to take my experience and filter it through what the word of God says, versus filtering the word of God through my experience if that makes sense.
Speaker 3:And so for me, a lot of times I've walked through some of these places of pain and, um question god, question why, why is this happening? But then I'll also process through with the lord. You know what the root causes were in some of these situations, and sometimes there's not a root cause, sometimes the lord just knows what's not a root cause, sometimes the Lord just knows what's best and we don't see the big picture and we can't fully understand it. And with my sister, you know I'm sure there were a lot of other elements involved. But he did assure me 10 years later, actually spoke to me and and just had me have my husband. He asked me to have my husband watch my children and said I'm going to answer a question that's been on your heart for a long time.
Speaker 3:And he told me that it was in his mercy that he took my sister, and I don't understand all of the pieces behind it. You know. I do know that she had her arm amputated in the process and she had lost her hair and there were a lot of things that happened, but he reassured me that it was his mercy, and so what I have learned is that, no matter what, god is good and his mercy always triumphs over just judgment, and so even in the places where we don't understand and we don't comprehend, we can
Speaker 3:know that he is good. And that's something that I have seen over and over and over again in my life, even when things have not gone my way, and sometimes even when I feel that the Lord has given me a word for someone to be healed, and then I didn't experience what I thought I would see. And in that, even knowing that God is good and sometimes bringing he brings me a deeper revelation that I'm then able to use for freedom for people, for healing for people. I have seen a lot of people get physical healing. I've seen a lot of people receive emotional healing. I've seen a lot of people receive emotional healing that then brings physical healing.
Speaker 3:I've seen some people get free from demons that were actually causing infirmity and affliction, and there's some scenarios where, younger in my Christian walk, I didn't even understand that we can be afflicted by demons, and I believe some of the situations that I saw that were not necessarily where healing didn't actually happen the way I had hoped it would and believed that it would. I believe some of those situations actually had demonic afflictions that I at that point was not equipped to take you know, to take through, and so sometimes we lose a family member before it's time I feel like you know. I mean, I know the Lord is sovereign and, like I said, it's a huge topic.
Speaker 2:It is.
Speaker 3:But even in the sovereignty of the Lord, knowing his character is so important because one of the things I teach in my mentorship so I have a mentorship that's from trauma to triumph. I feel like I'm going rabbit trailing all over because we never went beautiful either.
Speaker 2:Yes, it's good.
Speaker 3:But, but it's. It's the whole trauma to triumph, mentorship that I run. It's like one of the things that I want to equip people in is feel like I'm losing my track here. What was? What? Were we talking about? The healing?
Speaker 2:Yeah, like kind of questioning maybe, why somebody didn't receive healing right.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, and so, with the character of God, one of the first things that I train on is that, you know, in the beginning, when there was that Garden of Eden that God created, I mean God created this beautiful place for us to flourish, for Adam and Eve to come in flourish and walk with God hand in hand and be in relationship, and there was no pain. And so I think sometimes we like we, end up blaming God for pain, when he never wanted us to be in a place where we were experiencing pain to start with Right. And so I think that's a huge part of the revelation of who God is for us to understand, like it's the enemy that wants to kill. Yes.
Speaker 3:The enemy wants to destroy. The enemy, you know, wants to bring sickness into our life. And yes, can God use sickness and bring glory out of any situation, trials, you know. It says he turns all things for good to those that love him.
Speaker 3:But I would never say like it's God's desire for us in a place of sickness or, you know, to experience cancer, which is what my sister had. So it's it's like elevating that, um, what I believe, to what the word says. And it says in the Bible that Jesus healed all kinds of sicknesses and diseases. So I'll often go to the father and say, father um, why? Why, you know, how do I get to the place where I see all sicknesses and all diseases vanish in front of me? You know, because I believe that's possible, I believe in miracles, I've seen a lot of them, but sometimes we walk through hard things and really that is a test of our faith. You know, are we going to lose our faith in who God is and the character of God in the middle of the difficult situation, or are we going to triumph?
Speaker 3:And the Bible says that we always triumph through Christ. And one of the things he's been speaking to me recently is you cannot overcome if there's nothing to overcome. Yes, right, you can't triumph if there's not something to triumph over, right. And so, because we have pain that entered in through sin, and this world is full of sin and Satan is the ruler of this world for a season, there's a lot of things that don't make sense. There's a lot of pain, there's a lot of heartache, there's a lot of things, but God, in his grace and his mercy, is rescuing us from those things through Christ, and that's the good news, and you know how many people need to hear that.
Speaker 2:Yes, well, and that's part of why you know I often will be, you know, as I'm listening to guests that come on kind of, you know, thinking like what might somebody be thinking and wondering about in this area? Right, and healing is a big topic, like that could be a whole podcast. I could have you back another time and we could go deeper on that if you're led to. But I would love to hear of maybe a testimonial that you've seen a miracle happen in healing. I don't know if you don't have to share names or anything, but to give people like that hope, because maybe they've never seen a miracle before, maybe they've never seen, you know, something like that happen. Right, would you be open to sharing maybe something that you've seen in your time in ministry?
Speaker 3:Yeah, yes, for sure. Now it's interesting because, yes, for sure. Now it's interesting because immediately I'm like going through the Rolodex in my mind of like stories you know, like Lord, what story. And it's so interesting because immediately the stories that come to my mind typically when I see physical healing happen, it's because deliverance happens. Now my husband-.
Speaker 2:Deliverance first. Deliverance comes first. Happens Now my husband-.
Speaker 3:Deliverance comes first, deliverance happens and then I see healing. I do a lot of emotional healing. My husband works in physical healing a lot more. So I do believe there's like the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They we all can walk in them at any time the Lord wants us to. But there are certain gifts that I've seen like they're very active in my life and other ones that are active in other people's life, and so I've seen a lot more physical healing with my husband's ministry, because he'll like pray over people and just see physical happen, just by praying or speaking healing over the person.
Speaker 3:But in my ministry typically the Lord will begin to heal the heart and then we will end up taking authority over something or someone will forgive, because forgiveness opens a door for torment from the enemy. So here's a couple of stories Earlier in ministry, and I've seen this all along. But I will never forget this one time when a lady came up and she wanted prayer for healing over her arthritis and I began to ask the Lord as we talked about earlier Kristen, the importance of being able to hear God's voice and knowing the Holy Spirit. That's a whole nother story, probably for a whole nother time, of how they received the Holy Spirit as well. But that radically changed me, realizing I could have a personal relationship with God and he would speak with me and want me to know things and not just what the word of God says. I mean obviously in agreement with the word of.
Speaker 3:God, but that he can speak into our individual situations. So I had learned to lean on him. To kind of tune into the flow of the Holy Spirit would be the best way I could explain it. And it just popped into my my, my heart, my mind, that little whisper again ask her if there's anyone she needs to forgive. And so that's what I did. I said, you know, before I pray for your healing, I just feel like the Holy Spirit wants me to ask you is there anyone that you need to forgive? And before it even popped out of my mouth, she was like yes, she knew immediately who she needed to forgive.
Speaker 3:I didn't have to like make her mentally do acrobats to think about it, she just knew there was somebody there. So I said, let's, can we just pray a prayer and I'll lead you through it of forgiveness. And I had her choose to forgive this person and release the person. And as I was opening my eyes to just kind of check to see you know like where's she at in the process, and I was preparing to pray for healing, Then her eyes popped out of her head and she goes my pain is gone, and her hands like the arthritis kind of left as she spoke forgiveness, and that was a really amazing miracle to me, as she really closed the door to some of the bitterness.
Speaker 3:And we don't realize how much bitterness and unforgiveness play a role in health issues.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 3:It's, you know, rheumatoid arthritis.
Speaker 3:I'm not saying all rheumatoid arthritis is from bitterness and unforgiveness, but I am saying, if you have it, do a check with the Lord and see if there's any unforgiveness or bitter roots in your life, because they can contaminate and cause that kind of thing to be worse in our bodies Heart issues. We just recently here's another story we just recently had a 12 week mentorship called Unbound that eight women came in and were a part of, and I did this with some other coaches. But there was one session where I don't even think I realized that I had a word from the Lord, because I just kind of start flowing and sharing what's, you know, like I was, I was teaching and I was training and I was sharing the word the Lord had given me and then, just out of left field I guess, I I heard something about a heart and I said I believe I was talking about trauma and uh, we were, you know, taking authority over any spirit of trauma, but then all of a sudden it just hit my heart. I think somebody's heart is being healed.
Speaker 3:Now I don't even know if I knew whether that was emotional or physical. I was just being obedient and saying like somebody's heart is being healed in this moment. Later, one of the ladies came up to us and let us know that her heart physical heart actually got healed. Oh amen.
Speaker 3:That was amazing, like it was my expectation. I don't even think I was thinking of a physical said it, I was just being obedient. And then God, god, did it right. It's not my business is called the light and the glory. And yes, say it again, say it again what's the light and?
Speaker 2:the glory, isn't that beautiful.
Speaker 3:And it's a reminder that I'm shining the light of Christ, but he gets the glory.
Speaker 2:Amen, yes, and I'm. I'm guessing he gave you that name.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's. I want to just throw in, like, if you guys have a business and you're wanting to know what the name of your business should be, ask him, basically ask him for anything. But I just wanted to put throw that in there. It's always the best to have him name your things.
Speaker 3:I mean, I can't imagine life without him your things.
Speaker 2:I mean, I can't imagine life without him. Yeah, Well, I love how you, you know, shared these testimonies, but I want to kind of go back a little bit, because a big part of you know who you are and what you're called to help people with is hearing God. I know I've had, you know, I've run across people in my walk like, well, how do you hear God? And like, how do you hear him so much? And like, what do you? I would love for you to kind of go deeper on that, because I know my ears and my eyes opened. You know, I've been a believer since I was 25 and I wouldn't say it was till about 2017, which was eight years ago that I heard that still small voice. Like my whole world opened up, Um, and I hear him, I see him differently than others do it, and I I would love for you to go deeper on that, because, um, yeah, Would you go deeper on that? I'll stop talking about my story.
Speaker 3:I love your story too, yeah, and I love that you. You know that you saw a shift when you that you could hear his voice and that you learned how to connect, which is probably a story all on its own of how you live. I think for me it happened incrementally. I received the Holy Spirit soon after my sister passed away. Received the Holy Spirit soon after my sister passed away. Now, when I say that, language can get a little sticky, because we do have the Holy.
Speaker 3:Spirit as salvation but there was a level of of being filled with the Holy Spirit and and being connected that I did not have through salvation, that I still needed to experience. There's a. There's a more that.
Speaker 3:God wants us to give to us, and it and it's not like it, it's a one-time thing, it happens once. But then in the Bible says be being continually filled with the Holy spirit, and I think that's a huge key factor in being able to hear his voice is is being able to have a relationship with the Holy spirit, also having relationship with Jesus, with the Heavenly Father. We're supposed to be able to be connected to the Godhead through what Jesus did on the cross. And then he said I'm not going to leave you lonely when I go to be with the Father to prepare a place. I'm not going to leave you alone, I'm going to send you the Holy Spirit. And so understanding and receiving the Holy Spirit was, um. The Holy Spirit's help and comfort and voice and guidance was a huge part of that.
Speaker 3:But then, a little older, um later in life, when I was a little bit older, in my 20s, my husband and I we went through some ministry training and one of the courses that we took was about hearing God's voice, and that really changed our lives.
Speaker 3:And I think what shifted there for me was realizing I could listen to God anytime I wanted and he would speak to me. Now he doesn't always speak on our timetable about everything, but he never turns us away Like he's a river that is always flowing and realizing that, like the river that's flowing from the, you know the spirit of God. It talks about that in scriptures. I don't have those scriptures right in front of me, but the rivers of living water that flow out of our bellies. There's just a lot of different relevant places where it talks about the Holy Spirit flowing like water or like wind. And so we learned this whole process and I would say, the key factor, this is something that I coach in, I train in in almost everything I do. I was just even telling you earlier like I feel, like I can't train on anything else without this foundation, like I just think hearing God's voice is a foundation to being free, to being healed, to being released into your purpose, to figuring out your business name to training up and raising your children.
Speaker 3:I wouldn't want, I wouldn't want any of that without being able to connect with the voice of the Lord. And so what shifted for me and this is what I'll I'll leave with you, because beyond that, you know, I obviously I can train on that. I don't want to do that, but for me it was knowing I could listen and I would spend a lot of time journaling, telling the Lord about my day and sometimes he would speak to me.
Speaker 3:I mean, I had experienced that here and there, right, but I didn't make a habit of Lord. What do you want to say to me today?
Speaker 3:of Lord what do you want to say to me today? What do you want to show me? Who do you say I am? And I begin to make a habit of writing a question in my journal and then waiting till I heard an answer or saw a vision. And he loves to speak in visions and dreams. There's so many. I mean, this topic is is amazing in the Bible, how many ways that he speaks to us nature. You know all of it. Um, so I don't know. I don't know if that fully answered your question, but for me that's where the shift came in was realizing I could listen and his sheep know his voice, and it's really learning. What does that voice sound like? You know?
Speaker 2:yes, and especially in this time too, like we have to be, we have to really hear his voice above all the other voices in this world, because it is noisy out there, wouldn't you say?
Speaker 3:sure, sure, it's so easy to get distracted, derailed, discouraged, yeah. And knowing him is really the whole thing that keeps us stabilized.
Speaker 2:Yes, absolutely. So you said that you have a um, a training coming up.
Speaker 3:So I do. I have a couple of things coming up Um, one will be in July. I'll be doing my Trauma to Triumph mentorship, and that is a six month. That's my largest mentorship that I do. It's a six month intensive that takes you through heart healing. It takes you through freedom.
Speaker 3:Actually, I equip everyone on hearing God's voice and connecting to God, being seated in heavenly places. So many different topics, but the whole goal is intimacy with Christ and that we become whole, and not just that we become whole, but that we are able to learn these tools that are all throughout scripture and be able to utilize them in bringing wholeness to others as well. And so that's that's the mission of um, that mentorship, and it starts in July and goes for six months. It's a group coaching alongside of equipping and training track Um I I love doing that and if anybody is interested they can definitely reach out to me. Angelaadkinscom is my website and I'll be having more things posted up there as it gets closer. The second thing that I know that I'm going to be releasing probably mid-August I don't have an exact date for it yet but I'm going to be doing a training on casting out demons.
Speaker 3:And this is a first-time thing for me. I've been working in bringing freedom to people for a very long time and I've been getting my own training from a lot of different ministries and people that I respect because I've been wanting to grow in that, but the Lord has really released me to begin to train on that. I want to have some Q and A's alongside of that. And.
Speaker 3:I know it's going to bring more freedom to people, but also just equipping people in being more confident in their authority to bring freedom when it's needed and to know how, like how and when that is and what it looks like.
Speaker 2:Yes, oh, that's so. It's so needed. I mean, there's so many. Um, yeah, I know that in our time there's going to be more opportunities where, like personally, I feel like I do a measure of deliverance, but it's not like casting out demons. I don't know enough to know how to cast out demons per se, like I wouldn't say I'm trained up in it, but I am trained through Holy Spirit how to bring deliverance and unlock people. So I think we all have a different measure of bringing, like freedom to people. And I remember and this might I don't know if this is going to make sense, but I live in a very interesting place and I thought, like I wanted to just tear down everything here and I'm like the Lord is showing me like this is not your lane right now, like this is not you don't know enough to be able to try to, like you know, tear down the territorial spirits here, and you know what I'm saying Like so I think it's really pivotal and like we need something.
Speaker 3:That's a different topic. I think it's really pivotal and like we need something we do. We do need to be very careful that we're walking in the authority that God has given to us and the realm that God's given to us as well, and I highly recommend you know working on our own personal hearts and our spheres before we try to do anything regional.
Speaker 2:There's. There's a big key Right and I think and the beauty is that, like you know, I have stuff that I'm still working on too Right, I went through a ton of trauma growing up and there's no shame like any listeners out there, like if you're still walking through things, that doesn't disqualify you from you know stepping out and doing what God called you to do. I mean, would you say that yourself, Like you're still walking out? You know your own freedom.
Speaker 3:It's a continuum right, a level of bloodline freedom, like like through my bloodline deliverance, that I didn't even realize I needed, but it was. It was causing some unnecessary warfare in my life that I didn't realize where it was rooted in. So it's always growing and I will say this. So I, my heart, feels whole and I don't. I didn't used to feel that way. I used to feel very wounded and you know the it doesn't stop. Like we still have to take captive thoughts that come our way and the enemy will prey on weaknesses.
Speaker 3:You know, like one of mine is, uh, that God's healed me from is I'm not good enough, and there's still days when you know that will just come in and I'll let it stay a little bit. Do you know what I mean? Like all I know, let's hang out. It's like I'm like why, why am I doing this? I know who I am Like this is not okay. But there is a difference in in, just my heart feels whole and it didn't used to feel full. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like I know that there has been a level of wholeness that he's brought to me, but we're always growing.
Speaker 2:Yes, and how like, how fresh is this for you?
Speaker 3:With the bloodline. Yeah, well, that was actually in the last a couple of months deadline. Well, that was actually in the last couple of months, yeah, and it wasn't like a huge shift for me. It was just that I was experiencing a few oppressions when I would work with people and no matter who I would talk to about it, like you know, I would get prayer, but it was like it wasn't necessarily going away and especially when I was in worship it would happen and I'm like what is going on? It was like a depression on my shoulder here just a little bit sometimes, and I know that sounds a little bit weird, but that was what was happening and I'm like I just really don't think this is the way that God wants it to be. It doesn't feel like it's him showing me something and I finally we had a speaker come out to minister to families and she has learned a lot about bloodline deliverance, and so I asked her, I said, could this be? So? She did a little bit of you know, a question with me, a prayer with me, and then literally it was five minutes and it was gone. And then literally it was five minutes and it was gone.
Speaker 3:And I think for me it was just a kind of a final thing and I'm not saying it's the only final thing when I say that, but it was a final thing a long process of my intercession. Like God set us free. I want my children free, I want my bloodline free. I want you know, I want generations free. I don't just want us free, I want my children free, I want my bloodline free. I want you know, I want generations free. I don't just want myself free, I want generations free. And what was really really neat about that situation was, right before I went up to her to ask her about that, my daughter had gotten ministry from her and she's 21. And she was in the other room getting ministry and I didn't even realize that they were doing bloodline freedom over her, and so I literally came up with the same thing that she had.
Speaker 3:I mean, it ended up being connected and we, my daughter and I, got to pray together and it was just so precious. God wants to restore, he wants to restore families. He wants to restore entire communities.
Speaker 2:So could you just share a little bit. For somebody who's wondering what is bloodline deliverance, Could you just share a little bit of what that means.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's even a word I don't often use for myself, just because it just share a little bit of what that means. Yeah, that's even a word I don't often use myself, just because it can be a little bit like scary or something. But really it's simple. It's that in Deuteronomy it talks about that the blessings of God flow for a thousand generations and it also talks about that. You know, our sin can cause a curse that flows for three to four generations, and one of the things that I've learned along the way is that three to four generations is where God cuts that off, but then if the third or fourth generation continues in the sin, that's what it does. It goes three or four more generations right, so we can have sin in our.
Speaker 3:that's what I'm referring to when I say bloodline in our generations might be a better term than using bloodline really means the same thing In our generations Generational, yeah, generational. But it's more than just breaking a generational curse it's actually a deliverance.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 3:And the something I mean. This is a again. Every one of these is such a big topic, but they're.
Speaker 3:Jesus paid the price at the cross for our deliverance and for our sickness, and the best way that I can explain this is that I'm sure that almost everyone listening at some point has had the flu or a cold, and yet we are healed through Christ, jesus, right? So at some point, sometimes, what we have in Christ isn't necessarily what we are experiencing in our reality, and so, in the same way with deliverance, we have full deliverance and freedom through the cross. But sometimes there's places where the enemy either has a legal entry and that's what happens with the generations is there's been a door opened and it never got shut so to speak, and so that's it's.
Speaker 3:It's a pretty simple thing, but it's like we have to. We have to take away. We have to take our authority through Christ and take away the legal right that the enemy is holding onto and place that in the Lord's hands, and then we get that freedom. And so it's a lot about legal rights, illegal rights, and the enemy doesn't play fair and sometimes we are way too nice to him because we should hate what he does. He's a destroyer, he kills, he steals, he destroys. Nothing he does is good and he loves to squat. And if you don't tell him to leave, he's not going to leave. Even though we have authority through Christ and we are free, he's still going to put us in bondage if we let him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I like to say the enemy's a punk and he's under my feet, like that's just try to come at, come at me something. Nope, you're a punk. Like that's just my own terminology.
Speaker 2:That's what I use a lot tolerate him with that sometimes we tolerate him yeah, well, and those thoughts that come, like you said earlier, like entertaining the thoughts that come that aren't like from from the like that's not something he would say to us. And like, how would you recommend somebody like, when they're hearing these thoughts, like, rather than entertaining them? You know we hear like, you know, take your thoughts captive, like what does that look like for you, like tangibly, for somebody who's like, well, I can't stop thinking these things.
Speaker 3:So I think the first step, if they're intrusive thoughts typically they're demonic, sometimes they can be our thoughts too but if they're intrusive thoughts, then we have the authority to bind them up in the name of Jesus. And the Bible says to set up, to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. And I like to think about that as an act of war, because when we take something captive, it's not you know, it's not easy to take something captive. They don't want to be taken captive typically, captive typically because they're looking for their freedom. And so if we're looking at these thoughts as they are not obedient to Christ and we need to take them captive, then there is a level of wrestling them down, and the best way to do that is through an exercise, and maybe this is a good way. I can actually just leave this exercise with anyone listening here on this podcast to practice yourself, because I believe every human being has some level of a lie being spoken to them or a core belief system that is maybe not in alignment with heaven, that needs to be healed and needs to be adjusted into his truth, and so my favorite thing to do is to just have have you close your eyes and ask Jesus to come and be with you and go to a place that brings you peace, like some people love to go to the ocean, some people like to walk through the forest, some people like their own bedrooms, be on their bed or on a couch that's comfortable and safe. And I just encourage people to use their imagination and picture that place of peace and then invite Jesus to come, be with them and ask him about the lie that you were hearing. And if you're not sure if it's a lie or if it's truth, ask him and just say Jesus, you know what do you want to say about this? And I think it's really important, when we do recognize it's a lie, to renounce it. To say and renounce is another big word it's really saying I don't agree. So you can say I don't agree or you can say I renounce it, but I don't agree with the thought that I'm not good enough.
Speaker 3:And I received the truth and then asked Jesus what is the truth? Well, the truth for me is I mean I'm not good enough, but through Christ and what he did for me, I am enough and because he is enough for me. And so sometimes it can be like a twisted truth. Right Like we are, none of us are good enough. We've all sinned, we've all fallen short, but I'm also. God doesn't look at me as a failure. That's not who he. He he sees me as success through the eyes of Christ. And so it's asking the Lord what is the truth, and then maybe even finding a scripture that goes along with that truth, that you can implant those those things on your mirror, on your, you know, wherever you're driving. If you spend a lot of time in the car, put it on your car, put it on your wall, put it where you do the dishes at your workplace. Put the truths around, surround yourself with the truth that God speaks over your life, and that's a really good way to start overcoming the lies.
Speaker 2:Okay, is there a verse that really helped you to overcome in that area of the not enough? Because I've found that there's. It's kind of a flip. It's like too much, not enough. Have you heard those a lot Like I'm too much and I'm not enough? Yes, those are big ones, right, and they try to stop you from going forward.
Speaker 1:I think the key to the not good enough side is relationship with.
Speaker 3:God instead of religion. I'm not sure I have a particular scripture, except that it's not about our works, so I think it might be more that type of scripture where it's by faith, it's not by works, that no man can boast. And so the truth is, is that we're where we? Just we need to let down that wall of protection and let Jesus in to fill the need, whatever that need is. That's making us not enough and, to speak, the value that we need into our lives into our lives so good.
Speaker 2:Angela, you're amazing, like he has the teaching, absolutely Like I see it full, it's, it's beautiful and I would love to have you come back another time. And in the meantime, as you guys heard, angela, could you share your website again?
Speaker 3:Sure it's AngelaAdkinscom. And. I'm also on Facebook, Angela Adkins. I'm not sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah Well, if anything you know, if anything popped out, like, are you open to, you know, touching base with people, helping them understand more, maybe some of these topics that maybe are new to them, Because it was new to me in 2017. A lot of these things I've, like I said, my ears, my eyes, everything's kind of opened up and I was like, wow, this is not a lot of stuff that's being taught in church.
Speaker 3:Absolutely. I have a free consult. So if you reach out to me on the website, just put a. You know there's a contact me button.
Speaker 3:Okay send an email my way where I can send you a link. I'm not sure if my calendar is up on my website yet, cause I have a couple of different websites going up. For those of you who don't know me, I started my business just recently. It was less than six months ago. I've been doing the ministry of this for like 20 years, but did not have a business to go with it until just pretty recently, so I'm still getting all of my ducks in a row, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yes, I love that you are out there. You may not have it all together yet, but you're out here and you're helping to set the captives free, which is beautiful.
Speaker 3:Absolutely. I'm happy to have a consultation and just see what I might have available to help people. I also have a course. It's called Heart Sessions with Jesus Basic Tools to Healing and Freedom, and it actually does talk about hearing God's voice, connection, forgiveness, all of these topics that we've been talking about, and core, core memories, core lies out of how God rewrites our story. That's all in that workbook and there's like a a course. You can even do it with a small group. I did it with small groups in mind, hoping that people would take the workbook and just work through it with a small group. I did it with small groups in mind, hoping that people would take the workbook and just work through it with a small group and pray with each other and see healing and freedom.
Speaker 2:Awesome, and that's available on your website, correct?
Speaker 3:Yes, that's also on Amazon as well.
Speaker 2:Okay, awesome. Well, as we close today, I would love for you to just think of the one who's listening in today, because that's my heart is to do this for the one. Is there anything that you would like to speak over the one, any additional encouragement, any wisdom you'd like to share? And then would you be open to praying us out today?
Speaker 3:Absolutely. I think what's on my heart at the moment and it kind of correlates to what we just talked about in overcoming lies is that every one of you that's listening, you are valuable and you have a plan. God has a plan and a purpose for you that is beyond measure, and it says, you know, in Jeremiah 29, 11, which a lot of us are familiar with, it says that he has a future and a hope and it will not be cut off. And I believe that one of the enemy's main tactics is to try to stop us from accomplishing the amazing things that we are created to accomplish. The amazing things that we are created to accomplish and I'm trying to find the right words for this but it's not just that we're supposed to accomplish, but that we are powerful. We're powerful people, and what we believe literally changes the world around us. And what you believe about yourself, what you believe about God, what you step out in faith in, is literally what will change the world around you and change your world. And so I just want to encourage you to realize that it's not by our might and it's not by our power, but it's by the Holy Spirit that we are able to see any of these things happen, and whether God is calling you into a deeper place of healing personally, maybe saying like he wants to speak to you in the secret place and to open up more time for intimacy, or whether you yourself feel a call to go forward and make a change in your world and you're trying to navigate that change. I just want to encourage you to bring all of that before the Lord, because he cares about you, he sees your value and anything telling you anything else than that is not his voice, and so that's probably the most important thing I feel like I can say.
Speaker 3:The Lord put on my heart the story of Samson this week, and I just think it's so interesting because if you look at Samson's life in the Old Testament, if you've read about him, he was a judge of Israel and he had incredible strength, but that strength came from the power of the spirit that was upon him, and you know it was the Holy Spirit that rested upon him. Even though he was in the Old Testament, it was still the Holy Spirit that rested upon him, and now we have access to the power of the Holy Spirit. As believers, we all have access. It's not just like a judge in Israel. That happens to have that upon him his life.
Speaker 3:But we get access to God anytime, all the time Jesus Christ lives in us. We always triumph through Christ. We're seated in heavenly places with Christ it's all over the scripture and we have this power of the Holy Spirit accessible to us, and so I just want to tell you that no one listening, you are not little, you are not less than you may look different than me, you may not have the same gifting sets that I do or Kristen does, but you have a value and you have something beautiful to offer to this world, and anything telling you otherwise is a lie. Yes, amen. Amen.
Speaker 2:I just sense like a healing balm over so many listening right now.
Speaker 3:Do you want me to pray?
Speaker 2:Yeah, would you pray us out?
Speaker 3:So, lord, I thank you for every person listening to this podcast and Holy Spirit, I pray right now that you would settle upon them to this podcast and Holy Spirit, I pray right now that you would settle upon them that your presence, your love, your comfort would just set upon their hearts, god, that you would tear down any walls that have been keeping them from connecting to you, connecting to your presence, lord, and I pray, father, that you would heal pain and that you would speak into places where the just the, I don't understand places, the places where it doesn't all make sense. Oh, lord, that there would be a level of trust that every person who's listening to this podcast could step into and saying God, I trust you, even though I don't understand everything, I trust you. I trust you that you, you are my, and I feel like it's even fill in the blank. What is it that you need God to be?
Speaker 3:For me, it was. I needed God to be my protector. I needed God to be my love. I needed filled with love so that I didn't walk in fear. Fear was a huge place that God overcame in my life. I used to be afraid of demons, actually, which is hilarious, because now I'm also like I'm not afraid anymore. I know who God is.
Speaker 3:And so, lord, wherever that place is, whether it's you know, um, that God you are, I'm not alone. You are with me into that place of abandonment. God, I pray that you would just remove any core lies where somebody I just feel like there's somebody who's listening, who does feel alone, who maybe even feels on scene, but especially feels alone, and I just want to speak to you, that God is with you, he loves you, he sees you. You're not alone. And, lord, I pray for anyone else that needs to just hear your voice, that you would speak the truth to their heart, god, and that you would just touch them in such a way that they would feel your presence and your healing and that you would help them, god, to step out in freedom, to take authority over the lives of the enemy and to bind them up and remove them through the authority of Christ that they have. Father, I thank you that they are beloved and that they are yours. I bless them in Jesus name.
Speaker 2:Amen. Angela, what a blessing it has been to have you on here today. I would love to have you back again sometime if you're open to it. I feel like you're just such a beautiful wealth of just wisdom and knowledge and experience. You know, walking with the Lord for so long I had to go downstairs because my neighbor was revving up his engine as you were praying and I was like there's something on that. There's just this acceleration happening. So again, thank you for being on today and thank you for being a brave voice. Who's setting so many free? I'm going to close Hope Unlocked with our anchoring verse, which is May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope, and that's Romans 15, 13. So thank you again, angela. I'll be back with another episode next week. Bye 13. So thank you again, angela. I'll be back with another episode next week. Bye, listeners.
